So the Tigers pulled one out. Good thing I was rooting for them. Could have gotten ugly if I wasn't.
I saw Capote last night. The film about Truman during his time writing, "In Cold Blood." First off I must tip my hat to Phillip Seymore Hoffman for an absolutely marvelous portrayal of the writer. At times it seemed a bit forced but he was engrossing and genuine.
I had heard Capote was conflicted during the time he was writing the story. The movie portrayed this well; his lover during the time of his research, the ostracizing of his friends, and his inner conflict of befriending the convicts and hiding the truth. I don't believe it was complex because we, and I speak for myself when I say this, make these decisions everyday; going after what we believe we want by trading on the future of love and success. Now to be fair, Truman didn't sell out his close friends but the anguish he endured internally was raw. To torment yourself, as expressed in this movie, had twice the effect because it tore him down and the people around him. How do you balance your ambition and still be successful in your own mind?
The story wasn't about the crime in Kansas nor the research that took him on a journey of 8 years. It was about how relationships are formed from connections oft of little coincidence.
I can't explain why I am on the path that I am or why those that interact me now do, but I find it enriching and take no moment or person for granted.
